Mandy and Curtis are one of my favorite couples, and the Machine Shop is absolutely one of my favorite Minneapolis venues. When these soon-to-be-newly weds told me they wanted a styled shoot in the industrial-chic factory-turned-event center, I couldn’t say no. One of the things I love most about the Machine Shop is all the natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows send cascades of sunlight into the space, which makes every corner and every angle photo-ready.

The other piece of this shoot I particularly loved was playing with black and white. Not only did I experiment photographing certain poses in black and white, but I admired the way Curtis and Mandy’s dark black and stark white outfits complemented each other. Dressed in opposite colors, the happy couple reminded me of Yin and Yang. They are truly one another’s other half.

This styled shoot that was particularly fun because Mandy and Curtis not only dressed in black tie attire, but they also got comfy in athletic gear, posing both indoors and out. It shows this couple can make it through anything—whether an elegant event or a tough workout. I had so much fun photographing my lifelong friend, Mandy, and her soon-to-be groom, Curtis, at the glorious Machine Shop in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I can’t wait to see what their future holds.
