BRANDON + JORI | MANKATO WEDDING PROPOSAL
Surprise! It’s time for a proposal! Last Christmas, Brandon gave his girlfriend Jori a gift card for a photoshoot with me. His plan was to pop the question during her shoot, but he was so anxious to spend his life with her that he popped the question before she had a chance to book—how cute! Jori was certainly surprised, to say the least. And just look at that woodsy, picturesque setting!
I hid behind a tree for awhile before Brandon got down on one knee. Prior to engaging, he wrote Jori’s late mother a letter, and asked her dad for her hand in marriage—just like a true gentleman. The afternoon felt effortless. So much emotion surrounded this special event, and I am lucky I got to photograph it. I love how laid back Brandon and Jori are as a couple—they truly belong together! Add in their dogs, and they already have a picture-perfect family. Following the proposal, we took a walk through the park. With no clouds in the sky and no other people in the field, I had the freedom to incorporate wide open spaces and stunning backdrops into each shot I took. One of my favorite things to do as a photographer is explore different angles, and I took full advantage of that during this shoot. The close-up shots of Jori’s ring, contrasted with far away shots taken from behind tall blades of grass made for a selection of memories the couple will hopefully cherish for a lifetime.
I am excited to continue sharing and capturing special moments shared between Brandon and Jori as they plan for their wedding. It’s bound to be a good year for these two!
