Courtney + Zach | Engagement
Summer 2017 may be over, but Courtney and Zach have their sights set on next year—July 2018, to be exact, when the couple finally gets to say “I do.” I was particularly excited to meet up with these two, because three years ago I photographed the wedding of the bride-to-be’s sister. One of my favorite things about this shoot (although there are many), is the time of day at which it took place. There is just something about the warm, setting sun on a summer day. The way the light shines through the trees makes for an ideal photo opp. Paired with some of the greenest grass I’ve ever seen, the shoot was bound to go well. I love the rustic features of the family farm; soft grays, tans, and browns create a stunning neutral backdrop, so the couple really has the chance to shine. Everywhere we went, there was a picture-perfect backdrop waiting for us.
Behind the pictures of green grass, smiling faces, and undeniable love lives a story. No, not the story of how the bride- and groom-to-be met. At this particular photoshoot, we encountered something new: a kitten. As I shot photos of the couple near a barn, three small kittens wandered out—one of which had a bad cut on its shoulder. Courtney, kindhearted woman that she is, felt so bad for the kitten that she took it home with her and brought it to the vet the day following our photoshoot. Thankfully, the vet was able to fix the problem, and the kitten is well on its way to recovery. Much like Courtney and Zach, it can look forward to a long and happy life.
